Toner smears appear on back of page

What are the possible causes for toner smears on the back of printouts?
First, check that the paper size you have selected is the same as the paper size actually in the tray. If the two paper sizes differ, smears can result.
If you have checked the paper size but smears still occur, it may be caused by one of two things:

There may be toner residue left inside the printer after clearing a paper misfeed. |
Print out several more sheets until the printout becomes clean. |
The document size may be larger than the paper size that you have selected. |
Make sure that both document and paper sizes are the same. (When the paper being printed on is smaller than the page being printed, the toner at the edges cannot be transferred to paper as it should be -- it remains in the device and can dirty its inner workings.) |

Checking whether your document and paper sizes are the same
To check whether your document and paper sizes are the same, follow these steps:
- Premere il tasto [Strumenti Utente/Contatore].
- Press [System Settings].
- Press [Tray Paper Settings].
- Check that the paper size and orientation listed for the tray you are using is the same as that set in the application you are printing from.
If they are different, change the settings in your application.
